3. Angular Measurement

                               L : 3 Angular Measurement

Objective :
  • To understand the basics of angular measurement and measure  angles using different instruments.

Instruments used for Angle Measurement :
1. Universal Bevel Protractor
 2. Sine Bar
3. Spirit level
4. Sine Center
5. Clinometer
6. Angel Guages
7. Autocollimator
8. Angle Dekkor.

Important Points Discussed in this Chapter :

1. Necessity of Angular Measurement in Industry. Various applications of angular measurement such as Jigs and fixtures, Lathe machine setting, Sheet metal industry, etc.

2. Various units of amgle such as Degree, Minutes, and Seconds.
360 equal parts of circle constitutes Degree. Each degree is further divided into 60 minutes. Similar for Seconds.

3. Bevel Protractor :
construction and Working of Bevel Protractor, Process of measurement, and Specific applications.

4. Sine Bar : it is used to measure angle and also for angle setting.
Derivated formula to calculate unknown angle. We also studied why it is not used to measure angles more than 45 degree.

5. We studied detailed Construction and working of Spirit Level. Studied about the procedure how to set up the Spirit Level.

6. Discussed about the Clinometer, and how we can measure the unknown angle, using a set of two Clinometers.

7. Introduction to Angle Guages, and how we can obtain required angle, by addition or subtraction of Angle Guages. Difference between Angle Guages and Slip Guages.

8. Principle of operation of AutoCollimator, its construction and working, two cases of angle measurement, and applications of Autocollimator.

9. How Angle Dekkor works, Various scales of angle dekkor, and the procedure of measurement using Angle Dekkor.

10. Numericals based on setting up Angle Guages, angle maybe  Acute or Obtuse.
